WAVE 2025: Taiwan's Premier AI Exhibition Unveils Over 300 Solutions, Leading Asia-Pacific's AI Wave
The World AI Vision Exhibition (WAVE 2025), Taiwan’s premier AI event, officially commenced today (7/31) at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 1, featuring over 300 integrated solutions and innovative applications. Co-hosted by the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA), the Administration for Digital Industries (ADI), and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), the exhibition will run until August 2nd, bringing together over 180 domestic and international companies with nearly 400 booths to lead the Asia-Pacific AI wave.
The event aimed to serve as a one-stop-shop for connecting businesses, enhancing Taiwan's global competitiveness in the AI industry, and allowing the public to experience the future of AI firsthand. In his opening speech, Minister Yennun Huang (黃彥男) of the MODA highlighted Taiwan's indispensable role in global AI development, stating that WAVE 2025 was a crucial platform for demonstrating the nation's strengths in "hardware-software integration, technology implementation, and innovative applications."
Aligned with the Executive Yuan's "AI New Ten Major Construction Projects," MODA is actively building Taiwan's AI ecosystem through various initiatives. These include creating an AI computing pool, opening high-quality government data, cultivating AI talent, and promoting the newly released "AI Industry Talent Recognition Guideline." The ministry also organized WAVE 2025 to help companies promote their products and is launching a NT$10 billion investment plan to support industry growth.
Another major highlight of WAVE 2025 was the official launch of the "AI Industry Talent Recognition Guideline," developed collaboratively by the Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) and the Taiwan AI Academy. The guide was created to help industries identify and understand AI talent and competencies among growing demand for AI applications, incorporating insights from academia, industry, and research institutions. Deputy Minister Yi-Jing Lin(林宜敬) of the MODA noted that this guide divides AI talent into three main categories: research talent, development talent, and application talent, and organizes competencies into five areas: AI literacy, AI tool applications, AI programming applications, AI model training, and AI service development. The framework is designed to align industry needs with AI talent development, serve as reference for AI competency certification, and guide curriculum planning. In the future, it will also inform AI training programs for public servants. The launch ceremony brought together key certification bodies, leading private training providers and leading job-matching platforms. All participants endorsed the guide as a practical tool for talent identification, classification, training, and employment matching within Taiwan's AI ecosystem.
WAVE 2025 also fostered international collaboration by inviting innovative teams from Japan and Singapore, and by co-branding with Singapore's "Big Data & AI World" exhibition. Startups from the Asia-Pacific region showcased applications in fields such as cybersecurity, data governance, smart manufacturing, and generative AI. International representatives, including the Executive Director of the IT Innovation and Strategy Center Okinawa (ISCO), the President of the American State Offices Association (ASOA), and the Head of the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, joined the celebration, highlighting the event's global reach.
In addition to the exhibition, over 40 AI-themed forums were held. The first day's forum on "The Next Step in Taiwan's AI Strategy" invited policy and industry leaders to discuss sustainable AI applications. Looking ahead, MODA will continue to work with industry, government, academia, and research to build a comprehensive AI innovation ecosystem, promote Taiwan's AI industry on the global stage, and drive a smart future for all.
