The 2024 Presidential Hackathon awards ceremony was held on 22nd December 2024 at the Presidential Office. President Lai Ching-te presented trophies and certificates to the outstanding teams from the "domestic" and "international" tracks. These teams underwent months of competition and a three-stage review process, embodying the hackathon spirit of cross-domain, cross-border, and cross-generational collaboration. The teams have demonstrated Taiwan's soft power in data-driven innovation by leveraging data and digital technology to address societal challenges and promote sustainable development through innovation.

The Ministry of Digital Affairs (MODA) noted that the Executive Yuan organized the 2024 Presidential Hackathon with joint efforts from MODA and the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The Presidential Hackathon began accepting submissions in July 2024. The domestic track focused on "Aging Together, Health Sustainability," while the international track centered on "Digital and Green: Next-Generation Public Infrastructure."The event attracted hackers from around the globe who proposed innovative and feasible solutions to current societal issues, showcasing the limitless possibilities of data application and collectively crafting a sustainable future for all generations.

MODA emphasized that the outstanding teams from the Domestic track presented distinctive proposals. For instance, the " Connect 10" and "Elder Care Assurance Team" aimed to create collaborative platforms, providing more efficient, convenient, and quality services for doctors, care teams, and families, addressing the challenges of a super-aged society through data application and digital technology. Additionally, "Flying Route Planner" integrated data of geographic information, restricted areas, and weather forecasts to establish a drone delivery application platform, enhancing access to medications for remote areas. "Quiet Tracker" utilized mapping, environmental, and traffic noise monitoring data to develop the "Smart Sound Box," collecting and analyzing audio to create a tranquility map, improving public awareness of noise and aiding government agencies in noise management. "Greens Plus" advocated using treated wastewater as a stable agricultural irrigation source, building a platform to monitor water levels, growth images, temperature, humidity, and weather information via an app, assisting farmers in enhancing crop quality.

The International track featured participation from 77 hacker teams across 34 countries. The distinguished team "GreenhopeBCTW," comprising members from the United States and Taiwan, developed a personal carbon reduction wallet to incentivize green behaviors among the public. Another notable team, "MooApps" from Indonesia, created health monitoring tools to reduce livestock mortality and improve farm management efficiency. Both teams were invited to Taiwan to receive their awards and engage with local creative teams and institutions, experiencing  Taiwan's digital culture and exemplifying global partnerships through cross-national collaboration and digital innovation.

MODA emphasized that the Presidential Hackathon fosters collaboration between the public sector and civic hackers, inspiring creativity and passion to address societal issues jointly. The event promotes cross-disciplinary cooperation and expands data application through technology, unleashing innovative potential and advancing sustainable development. Taiwan will continue hosting the Presidential Hackathon, driving social progress through data innovation and uniting global consensus via digital technology, steering towards a more intelligent and sustainable future.
